So for my latest project we have had to create a new front cover for Little White Lies magazine. LWL is a magazine company who produce film based magazines. Each issue has a cover depicting the main character from the film which they are reviewing. The whole magazine has really nice style, which comes from the style of the front cover art. The project is for D&AD award and many students will be entering. First we had to pick a film from a list which included Drive, Black Swan, The Tree of Life, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Each have very distinct main characters and have a theme. I am initially drawn towards the Drive film because I know it has a very 80’s theme to it which i like.
Now to look into the film and the research.
I was searching the web when i found this video of the LWL studio. I think it is a fantastic insight into the life of a designer. It shows all new designers what goes into the creation of such a magazine. Really cool vid enjoy.
We have recently been given a new brief at uni for the D&AD competition. The brief that i am going to peruse will be to create a new front cover for the Little White Lies magazine.
Little White LIes is a magazine that focuses on new films. Each issue contains images, interviews, reviews and general information on new films. each issue has one main film as there front cover. this is usually in the style of a portrait of the main character.
My task is to create a new front cover for one of the following films:
The tree of life
Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy
Each have very defining characteristics which should be displayed in the front cover. Will need to watch each film to get a better understanding of them.
This is recycling at its most productive. Old skateboards have been reused to create some great art installations. The multi layers of colours show through, and with a polished finish just adds quality.
A truly great idea and great outcome.
Stumbled across this and found it rather interesting as it is pretty true to life. The little illustrations help as well.
#THE50 THINGS EVERY CREATIVE SHOULD KNOW
I found this video on the web and it just blew my mind. The whole thing works so well, the voice, the animation, the camera work. All go hand in hand to make this video very powerful. The complex animation has been done so seamlessly it looks real. The narration is from the book that is being cut out and being portrayed by the animation.
Amazing detailed black and white pictures. I found these photographs and they caught my eye immediately. They show the age and every wrinkle that the subject has. You can see their life story in their face, which makes the photo even better. There are great contrasts within the picture which gives it depth and clarity. There are more pictures within the series. They are all as good and as in-depth.
